Golden Age of Poetry: Zack Grabosky and Gerry Crinnin in BingU News

A ray of light shot a bright finger into Milton Kessler’s Binghamton University classroom. He paused, that day’s lesson plan falling away, and began to recite lines from Theodore Roethke’s “What Can I Tell My Bones?”

Zack Grabosky and Gerry Crinnin shared this scene from the poet and teacher Milton Kessler’s early 90s classroom with Jennifer McCale, a writer from Binghamton University.

Zack and Gerry spoke with Jennifer about their time at Binghamton studying under Kessler, Liz Rosenberg, and Ruth Stone, and other now-legendary teachers from Harpur College’s creative writing program, where the poets met.

Jennifer was profiling the pair for BingU News, highlighting the publication of Zack’s debut collection of poetry, Blazes, out now from Foundlings Press.
