Forrest Gander

Forrest Gander was born in 1956 in the Mojave Desert and grew up, for the most part, in Virginia. Be With, Forrest Gander’s first new book of poems since 2011, was longlisted for the National Book Award and was selected as Publishers Weekly Best Poetry Book of 2018. Core Samples from the World was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. His translations include Alice Irish Red Horse, Poems by Gozo Yoshimasu, Then Come Back: Lost Neruda Poems, and, with Patricio Ferrari, The Galloping Hour. He taught for many years at Brown University, where he was the A.K. Seaver Professor of Literary Arts and Comparative Literature. He was privileged to love CD Wright for 35 years of their shared lives.
